Exotic, intimate and a little wild [and quite unique], A
Riverhouse is situated in the Wainiha Valley, one of the last strongholds of
old Kauai. Wai is the Hawaiian word for water and water is indeed the focal
point of this home. From the lanai, two watercourses are immediately
evident: a stream cascading melodically into three pools and a wild
rockstrewn river roiling its way down to the nearby ocean beach. The flowing
waters immediately fill your senses with their peaceful music and are
situated amidst the privacy of three incredibly verdant acres.
The home has three available dwellings that are not rented
separately and is perfect for a total of 2 to 6 guests. The main house is an artisan-crafted dwelling with sandalwood
floors and woodwork. It features an artistically carved central pole. The
open floor plan is airy and comfortable with a unique decor. The kitchen
becomes a central gathering spot with its cooking island and a gourmet
kitchen. The dining nook provides a comfortable and intimate eating area.
The bedroom has a queen bed and adjoins a spacious bathroom with a shower
and an over-sized tub. The lanai overlooks the cascading water and
flower-rimmed pools that are only 15 yards away.
The spacious cottage is blessed with an outstanding view of the
streams and the sound of the water creates a peaceful background lullaby. In
the distance a waterfall cascades from the mountains. There is a queen size
bed, a sleeping loft with a full size bed, and a full bathroom.

And then there is "the Bird's Nest". Often this small screened
gazebo is the favored sleeping option with its living-in-the-jungle feel,
views of the nearby wild mountains and early morning serenade of birdsong.
The "Bird's Nest" has a full sized bed and half bath.

Two of A Riverhouse's acres are still primal jungle and one acre
is gardened to include the flower- rimmed pools and a wild river plunge.
There is a profusion of edible fruits: coconut, avocado, orange, lychee,
banana, papaya, lime, tangerine, starfruit, mountain apple, longan and
eggfruit.
Gardenias, hibiscus, birds-of-paradise, orchids, gingers, tree
ferns, heliconias, and others and others, grace the landscape with an
amazing vigor.
Private, quiet and quite extraordinary, A Riverhouse is situated
only one mile from the nearest beach and is centrally located between
popular Hanalei Bay and the popular snorkeling beach Tunnels. It is also
close to the trailhead of the Kalalau Trail and the shopping and dining of
Hanalei town.
After a hot day on the beach or the trail, a retreat to the
cooling breezes and peaceful watersong of this magical garden spot is always
most welcome. Sometimes an entire day can be whiled away at A Riverhouse
when the hammock beckons and where the jungle is at your backdoor.
